Promoting International-Mindedness and Intercultural Understanding
In line with the IB Mission and the IB Standards and Practices: Purpose (0101), international-mindedness at GD Goenka Global School isn’t treated as a once-a-year theme, it’s built into how the calendar actually runs. Global Sports Day, World Cultural Day, and multilingual festivals give students real, hands-on reasons to engage with traditions and values beyond their own, while regular assemblies built around the IB Learner Profile keep attributes like open-mindedness, care, and principled behaviour connected to how students actually act, not just what they can define.
Some of that learning happens in smaller, quieter moments too. Table Talk sessions turn food traditions, hygiene practices, and even the simple experience of learning to eat with chopsticks into genuine conversations about respecting different customs. Field trips push the same idea further, giving students real-world settings to practise being knowledgeable, inquiring, thinking, and caring, the kind of intercultural understanding that contributes to a more peaceful world, not just a well-rounded report card.
That global lens extends beyond the campus gates. Partnerships with schools in Poland, the United States, the United Kingdom, Brazil, and other countries open up genuine cross-cultural dialogue and shared learning, while guest speakers from a range of cultural and professional backgrounds connect classroom lessons to how the world actually works. Woven through all of it are the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which turn Units of Inquiry into real community service and action, not just discussion.
Cambridge Lower Secondary Curriculum
The Cambridge Lower Secondary (CLS) curriculum blends skill-based and concept-based learning deliberately, built for a future that’s genuinely uncertain rather than a fixed set of exams. It centres on four areas:

Creativity, innovation, critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and learning how to learn.

Collaboration, clear communication, and presentation skills that actually land.

Information literacy and real fluency with emerging technology.

Cambridge Learner Attributes
The phrase ‘Cambridge learner’ isn’t just branding, it describes a specific, well-rounded mix of academic skill, life skill, and attitude that Cambridge considers essential for succeeding in today’s world. Five attributes define it:

ESL / EAL Support
Our ESL and EAL facilitators are CELTA-certified and IB-trained, which means fluency-building never comes at the cost of academic rigour. The programme is built to help students transition into mainstream classrooms quickly, without asking them to set aside the cultural and linguistic heritage they’ve grown up with, and it’s designed to interlock cleanly with both IB and Cambridge academic standards.
Entry is based on Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing (LSRW) proficiency, with the standardised WIDA initial screening available but entirely optional. The real focus, though, is immersive speaking practice, building the kind of fluent spoken English that actually carries a student into a mainstream classroom with confidence. Once students meet these proficiency goals, or the optional WIDA exit criteria, they move on to studying other modern languages like French or Spanish.
