ABOUT IB-PYP at GD Goenka
GD Goenka Global School is an extension of GD Goenka World School- Junior School.
IB-PYP stands for International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme.
What the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme is-
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years programme (PYP) is a curriculum framework designed for students from the age of 3 to 12 years.
It is a trans-disciplinary framework that focuses on the development of the wholesome development of a child as an inquirer, both at school and beyond.
The program has been developed after being informed by research into how students learn, how educators teach, and the principles and practice of effective assessment, the programme places a powerful emphasis on inquiry-based learning.
The Programme also incorporates local and global issues into curriculum, asking students to look at six relevant trans-disciplinary themes and to consider the links between them. The themes include ‘Who we are’, ‘Where we are in place and time’, ‘How we express ourselves’, ‘How the world works’, ‘How we organize ourselves’, ‘Sharing the planet’.
PYP invigorates learning and teaching, and transforms school community and culture. PYP students learn to take control of their learning. Teachers engage with students to increase their confidence and motivation.
